FIVE FUN DRY + DAMP JANUARY MOCKTAIL IDEAS
Trying new mocktail recipes during Dry January is a fun way to explore fresh flavors without the alcohol. It’s the perfect opportunity to get creative with ingredients like herbs, fruits, and spices for unique, refreshing drinks. Plus, experimenting with mocktails can lead to discovering new favorites that you’ll enjoy year-round!
We’ve also included a couple of recipes with spirits in case you’re more of a Damp January person — no judgment! *wink wink*
LIME RICKEY, NO TRICKS MOCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS
1 cup fresh squeezed lime juice
2-3 tablespoons honey
sparkling water or lemon lime soda for topping
lime wedges, mint, rosemary, or thyme for garnish
INSTRUCTIONS
Add lime juice and honey to a bowl; add additional honey if needed. Mix well to combine.
Fill a glass halfway with ice. Add the lime/honey mixture. Top with sparkling water or lemon lime soda. Add garnish if desired. ENJOY!
BLUEBERRY LEMON SMASH MOCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS
2 tablespoons fresh or frozen blueberries, plus more for topping
1-2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves, plus a sprig for serving
juice from half a lemon, plus a slice for serving
2 tablespoons blueberry jam
2-3 dashes orange or angostura bitters
sparkling water for topping
LEMON SUGAR RIM: 2 tablespoons granulated sugar + zest of 1 lemon
INSTRUCTIONS
To make the lemon sugar rim: combine the lemon zest and sugar on a shallow plate. Rim your glasses in sugar, then fill with ice.
In a cocktail shaker or glass jar, muddle the blueberries, thyme, and lemon juice, squashing everything to release the juices. Add the jam, and bitters. Fill with ice and shake until combined.
Strain into your prepared glass and stir gently to combine. Top with sparkling water. ENJOY!
CHERRY BOURBON OLD FASHIONED
INGREDIENTS
3 cherries, pitted, plus more for topping
2 oz fresh orange juice, plus orange slice for garnish
1 oz bourbon whiskey
1 - 2 dashes angostura bitters
INSTRUCTIONS
Add pitted cherries to cocktail glass and muddle well.
Add orange juice, bourbon, and bitters. Stir to combine.
Add ice and garnish with cherries and orange slice. ENJOY!
GRAPEFRUIT PALOMA MOCKTAIL
INGREDIENTS
2 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz fresh lime juice
1/2 oz – 1 oz maple syrup
sparkling water
sliced limes and grapefruit for serving
spring of thyme for serving
kosher salt for rim of glass
INSTRUCTIONS
Pour kosher salt on a shallow plate. Rim your glasses in salt, then fill with ice.
Add the grapefruit juice, lime juice, and maple syrup to a glass and stir until well combined.
Top off the glass with sparkling water, stir to combine, and serve with a slice of lime and fresh grapefruit. ENJOY!
WATERMELON GIN WONDER
INGREDIENTS
2 cups fresh cubed watermelon, plus slice for serving
8 fresh mint leaves
4 fresh cucumber slices, about 1/2” thick
3/4 oz simple syrup
1.5 oz gin
INSTRUCTIONS
Prepare the watermelon juice. Put watermelon chunks into a blender, blend on high for about 30 seconds until smooth throughout. Pour over a mesh sieve into a large glass. Set aside.
Add mint leaves, cucumber, and simple syrup to a cocktail shaker. Using a muddler, muddle them all together very well. Add gin, the watermelon juice from Step 1, and a generous amount of ice. Stir well to combine.
Add ice to a cocktail glass. Pour cocktail over ice and garnish with watermelon slice. ENJOY!
